The Salvation Army services New South Walves

We provide a wide range of services and initiatives across New South Wales with a focus on the response to, and restoration and healing from the effects of, family and domestic violence.

Crisis accommodation

Inner Sydney, the Illawarra and far-west New South Wales

Our crisis accommodation is for women and children needing a safe place after experiencing family and domestic violence. Support includes:

  • Risk assessment
  • Safety planning
  • Advocacy
  • Support accessing grants and payments
  • Referrals to other services such as legal, wellbeing, mental health, housing and health services

Specialist children's programs

Inner Sydney and far-west New South Wales

These programs are delivered from our crisis accommodation services to children and young people staying in the services. The program provides trauma-informed, family centred and culturally appropriate services with a focus on recovery and support from family violence.

Outreach services

Inner Sydney, the Illawarra and far-west New South Wales

Our outreach programs provide post-crisis support and case management to women and children victim survivors of family and domestic violence. Women and children access this service after exiting our crisis accommodation services or where crisis accommodation services do not have capacity. Support includes risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, support accessing grants or other payments, referrals to other services and limited financial assistance related to safety.

Transitional housing support

Inner Sydney, the Illawarra and far-west New South Wales

Our transitional housing support is for women and children victim survivors exiting crisis accommodation and provides ongoing support with safety planning, court hearings, advocacy, and access to housing and education to support victim survivors in the next step of their journey. This support is also available to women and children who have exited crisis accommodation housing options other than transitional housing (such as private rental or social housing).

Staying Home Leaving Violence Program

Broken Hill and the Central Darling area

Our Staying Home Leaving Violence program provides outreach to women and children, supporting them to safely remain in their homes after experiencing family and domestic violence. Through supporting women and children to remain in their homes, the program enables ongoing stable housing, education, and social and cultural connections. Support includes:

  • Safety planning
  • Access to home security audits and upgrades
  • Information on Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders
