Financial problems can affect anyone, anywhere, at any time. Sometimes life is tough and the unexpected happens. Or we may make a financial mistake and not know how to recover.

If debt is building up, you’re having trouble paying your rent, buying food for your family or simply feeling overwhelmed by your financial situation — help is available. Our financial support services are here for you.

We understand that money troubles may make you feel lonely, embarrassed and isolated, but we can assure you that when you contact us for financial assistance, we will offer you compassionate, warm and friendly support. We believe in good for you and want to see you get back on your feet.

What will happen when I call for assistance?

A team member will listen to the issues you’re facing and conduct an assessment to better understand your needs and what support we may be able to provide — depending on your location or situation.

This may be a voucher that can be used for food, fuel, or other practical needs, or we may refer you to other services for case work, financial counselling, or other practical or emotional support. Our aim is to ensure you feel heard, cared for, respected, and supported to meet your needs. We sometimes experience high demand, and apologise for any distress you may experience with long wait times. We recommend trying again another day or checking Ask Izzy for other nearby services if your request is urgent.

When directed to a Salvation Army site to collect your voucher, please be sure to ask about what other Salvation Army services and programs are offered at that location. Some corps (churches) have days when they hand out fresh produce, others have laundry facilities, personal development programs or playgroups for young children. Some locations also have Doorways case workers on site who can support you holistically.
