From our earliest days, The Salvation Army has stood for the equal dignity and leadership of women and men.
Our founders, William and Catherine Booth, championed the right of women to preach, lead and serve. We believe women of all ages and life stages should be free to serve in all areas: workplaces, community programs and worshipping communities. Our environments must therefore be safe, respectful and completely free from harassment or discrimination.
Our gender equality commitments
Our commitments include:
- Transparent reporting and pay gap analysis to meet our obligations under the Workplace Gender Equality Act
- Building respectful workplace cultures through training and clear accountability
- Preventing harassment and discrimination
- Creating leadership pathways so women are represented at every level, from officer appointments to senior management and governance
- Supporting flexible work and family-friendly policies so both women and men can contribute fully at every stage of life.
