Colleen and Bill - Living at the Cobden initiative
We were living in a caravan in our son's driveway, so moving into our own home was life-changing.
Neither of us could work, so we had no option but to move out of our rented home in Adelaide. While it was lovely being close to family, living in a caravan was less than ideal.
It was really important for us to have stable and more suitable housing. The caravan wasn't really suitable with my medical health. My back and knee issues made going up and down the steps into the caravan very, very difficult.
We also have two dogs, Bowie and Cricket, meaning the space was quite cramped.
The refurbished home is a big step up from the caravan. And we are in a community of older people in a similar situation, so we are very grateful to the Salvos. It’s a great initiative.
