What might delay security upgrades?

The National Safer in the Home program requires referrals from family and domestic violence professionals.

Some circumstances may delay the completion of security upgrades

The National Safer in the Home Program is based in Melbourne. Coordinating across different regions can take time.

Other factors that cause delays might include:

  • Manufacturing delayssecurity screen doors are made to order and can take up to eight weeks to manufacture.
  • Rural and regional areasupgrades in these areas require additional coordination and there are generally fewer compliant contractors available.
  • Inefficient communicationSafer in the Home contractors communicate directly with clients; contractors rely on clients to support access to their tenancy and return phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Contractor availability: Safer in the Home uses private contractors who are not The Salvation Army employees. Contractors  are not resourced for a priority response.
