Safeguarding at The Salvation Army

Inclusive practice

Welcome to the Salvos

We want everyone to feel welcome and supported when seeking information or help. Here’s how we do that:

  • Display inclusive signs and symbols at program sites
  • Provide gender-neutral options in forms and communication
  • Use inclusive language in all web pages and support materials and allow people to share gender identity and pronouns
  • Train leaders in inclusion and cultural safety including how to respond to feedback with respect
  • Ensure our Centre for Restoration is a safe and welcoming space for all
  • All employees receive opportunity for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion training such as LGBTIQA+ inclusion and cultural safety training
  • We encourage leaders to create spaces where everyone feels respected and valued
  • Programs are designed to be inclusive and respectful of all diverse identities
  • Youth advisory groups welcome diverse voices and identities
  • We encourage feedback about how inclusive and welcoming our spaces feel

We welcome people from all cultures and walks of life. We work to keep our centres safe, respectful and aligned with our values.

All are welcome

We welcome people from all cultures and walks of life. We work to keep our centres safe, respectful and aligned with our values.
