Safeguarding at The Salvation Army

Continuous improvement

At the Salvos, we are always looking for ways to do better. We welcome feedback from everyone about our people, places, programs and services - because your voice matters.

Why continuous improvement matters

Listening and learning helps us create safe, welcoming spaces for all - including children, young people, adults at risk, and people from LGBTIQA+ communities. We want everyone to feel respected and included.

How we improve

We look at feedback and data from across The Salvation Army to find patterns and make changes. We focus on:

  • Planning, Leadership and Culture - Strong leadership, clear plans and a supportive culture
  • Partnering with Clients and Participants - Working together for excellent results
  • Positive People and Practice - Good people doing things the right way
  • Pursuing High Performance - Always aiming for better outcomes

These areas connect with our Safeguarding Framework and our commitment to quality.

Our safeguarding framework

We focus on four key areas:

  • Commitment - Strong leadership and clear responsibilities
  • Empowerment - Supporting people to speak up and stay informed
  • Prevention - Planning ahead to stop harm before it happens
  • Response - Acting quickly and fairly when concerns are raised, always learning and improving

How you can help us improve

If you have ideas or feedback - about safety, inclusion or anything else - we want to hear from you.

Youth advisory groups

Hearing from kids and youth through advisory groups helps us improve our activities and services. Let us know if you want to join a local, state or national group today
