Safeguarding at The Salvation Army

Children and young people

See how we are keeping you safe and how you can voice your ideas.

We run programs, events and services that are safe, inclusive and respectful. Keeping children and young people safe is one of the most important things we do.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting people - especially children, young people and adults who may be more vulnerable - from harm, abuse and neglect. It’s about making sure everyone can live safely, be treated fairly and feel supported. Everyone has a role to play in keeping everyone safe.

Commitment

At the Salvos the leaders care about and respect everyone, no matter how old they are, where they come from, what language they speak, what they can or can’t do, or how they identify their gender.

Empowerment

This means we help you feel confident and supported to speak up, make your own choices, and take part in things that are important to you.

Prevention

At the Salvos, keeping you safe means fixing problems early, before they turn into bigger ones.

Response

Keeping you safe also means helping you tell someone if you are being hurt or treated badly, or if something doesn’t feel right.
