Invites students to explore the real causes and impacts of food insecurity in Australia.

Unpack the realities and systemic drivers of food insecurity in Australia. Through activities and discussion, students will challenge misconceptions and understand how The Salvation Army is responding to food insecurity

The workshop is designed to promote empathetic and justice-centred discussions around food insecurity.

Throughout the workshop, students are encouraged to think critically about the broader social and economic challenges that impact access to food. 

By the end, students are equipped with practical knowledge of where help can be found, how to support others in their community, and how advocacy and social justice action can address the root causes of food insecurity. 

 

Learning outcomes

  • Students explore the concept of food insecurity and understand how The Salvation Army is responding to this issue 
  • Students reflect on their needs, values and wellbeing through interactive activities and discussions 
  • Students are empowered to take action on an individual and community level to contribute positively to their community 
  • Students gain knowledge of where to access help and ways to support others experiencing hardship
