We believe in good for all communities, and support from local schools helps us to share the good and transform lives. There are lots of ways your school and students can support those in need through The Salvation Army.
Schools can raise funds for the Red Shield Appeal year-round. The Red Shield Appeal is The Salvation Army’s signature fundraising appeal raising funds for vital social and community services.
Whether it’s a casual clothes day, bake sale, barbecue, walk‑a‑thon, sleep out or something completely unique to your school, you can fundraise in whatever way fits your community best. If you need ideas or inspiration, our team is here to help you dream big.
You can also create an online fundraising page for your school. This is a great option as you can share the link with your entire school community and watch as your community helps you reach your target. Update your followers on social media or in blog updates about how you are tracking towards your goal.

Non-perishable and pull-ring tins if possible
Foods can include canned meals, fruits in juice, meats or fish, soups, spaghetti, baked beans, or vegetables.
You can also include pasta, pasta sauce, rice, curry, stir fry sauces, noodles, tea, coffee and cooking oils.

Essential items for people sleeping rough
Soap and body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, menstrual products, lip balm, band-aids, comb, hand moisturiser, face and hand wipes, face washers, socks, underwear.

From rough‑sleeping packs and winter warmers to blanket and sleeping‑bag drives, your school can make a huge difference to people experiencing hardship. You can also organise a pre‑loved clothing drive at school and donate the items to Salvos Stores to help fund The Salvation Army’s community services.
