Safeguarding at The Salvation Army

Our volunteers | Safe people

Our volunteers count, they help make our activites safe and welcoming

We are committed to making sure vulnerable people are welcome at the Salvos.  Everyone has a part to play in safeguarding everyone including our volunteers. As an organisation that works with children, we are legally required to provide a safe environment for them.

Our ways of working aim to protect those who participate and also those who volunteer so that everyone is trustworthy and clearly doing the right thing.  We also support our staff and volunteers by giving them the training, knowledge and skills they need to work safely with children and young people.

Safeguarding training reflects The Salvation Army’s mission: caring for people, building healthy communities and working for justice. It shows our commitment to keeping children and young people safe.

The Code of Conduct and related training explain how staff and volunteers are expected to behave when working with children and vulnerable people, including their personal responsibilities.

While workers under 18 do not need to do the main safeguarding training modules we still have a responsibility to keep them safe. A resource will be available soon for our under age workers.
