Having been in existence officially since 1908, although the wider area has been used for military purposes since 1855, and has approximately 7000 Australian Defence Force personnel.

Since then, the base facilities have grown as the Army's presence here has grown through its involvement in the two World Wars and beyond.
The base is now a large modern military base (600 hectares in size with on-base tactical training facilities and an auditorium, Monash Centre). The base is home to units of the 7 Combat Brigade, headquarters for 1 Division and 16 Aviation.

I joined the Australian Army in 1988 as a musician and completed my service in 2011.
I became a Red Shield Defence Services rep in 2011. I have provided philanthropic support to the following units: 1st Signal Regiment, 2nd/14th Light horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry), 6RAR, 8/9 RAR, 7th Combat Service Support Battalion and 1st Regiment Royal Australian Artillery.
I enjoy connecting with the soldiers, especially on field exercises.
