Edinburgh Defence Precinct: No representatives here as of July 2025

South Australia’s largest defence establishment

The precinct consists of four sites and more than 6500 personnel and is undergoing a large-scale transformation. It is a key national defence research, manufacturing and sustainment hub.

The four sites

  1. RAAF Base Edinburgh
  2. Defence Science and Technology – Edinburgh
  3. Edinburgh Parks
  4. Woomera Range Complex

Over the past 10 years the precinct has become a major intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) hub for the Australian Defence Force with Air Warfare Centre, 92 Wing, and 1 Remote Sensor Unit located at the base. It also has a strong electronic warfare presence with Joint Electronic and 462 Squadron located at the precinct.

Our work here

With the re-location of 7 RAR from Darwin to Adelaide in 2011. Additionally since late 2017, 1st Armoured Regiment and 1 Combat Support Services Team are also housed here.
