Top tips before disaster

Moneycare supports lots of people with their finances post-disaster, but we want to also arm you with advice before disaster strikes.
  1. Don’t go it alone. Support is available, and seeking help is a sign of strength.
  2. Being financially prepared also means being socially and mentally prepared.
  3. Step by step gets the job done, and you are capable.
  4. Insurance is a safety net when something happens unexpectedly. Consider getting it to help protect what is most important to you.
  5. You do have rights. There are laws to protect you when you sign for a loan or an insurance product.
  6. Have an emergency fund.
  7. Having a money plan is great. Having a system that allocates money where you want it to go is even better!
  8. Go with a go bag. Store your important documents in a safe place you can access when needed.
  9. Don’t sign anything you don’t understand. And read the fine print!
  10. People’s stories are important. And so is yours!
