Week 1 of Be the Boss is about starting that important money conversation - unlocking the conversation you have with yourself and giving you real tips to have important conversations with others.

All this week we'll be looking at the conversations you have about money, and we begin with the most important conversation of all - the one you have with yourself!
Today we look back on your past life experiences to unlock your personal money story. If you want to take control of your future and gain peace with your money, you need an awareness of your 'money story' and how it drives your behaviour today.
Take three minutes to watch today’s video then complete the action plan to crack the code on your money story!

We're continuing to explore the conversation you have with yourself, recognising that ‘self talk’ is incredibly powerful. When it comes to money, we can often carry a lot of unhelpful messages in our heads.
Today’s video and action plan will help you become aware of the messages you tell yourself about money, giving you simple but effective tools to reframe any negative thoughts into positive ones that will benefit your financial future.

Most of us find it so tough talking about our money - and it costs us!
So today we want to give you a simple strategy for starting a money conversation with someone you trust, allowing you to share something difficult without casting blame, and work together towards a solution.
Spend five minutes watching today’s video and then use the action plan to practice using this simple tool for a money conversation you’ve been putting off. The challenge will be worth it, and we’re here to help!

Having the skills to navigate difficult conversations about money is so important, particularly with our families. But having these conversations can often be the most challenging.
Today we’re building on yesterday’s tool and giving more practical tips on how to have these conversations with those closest to us.
As you practise and learn, be kind to yourself and gentle with your partner or family member as you work towards having meaningful and constructive conversations about money.

Week one is almost done - great job!
Today’s video packs a lot into just four minutes! Firstly, we talk about how important it is to reach out and ask for help if you need it. Time and time again, we see the relief people experience when they finally decide to ask for help and reach out to Moneycare. Our service is free and confidential.
The second part is about looking ahead and choosing to come at life with a growth mindset, understanding that you have the ability to change your future money story. There’s a great little activity in the action plan to help you do just that - enjoy having a go!
