Chaplaincy

Rural and remote chaplains

Some of these communities experience the toughest conditions in our nation.

How we help

Drought, bushfires, floods, mice and other plagues, and economic downturn are all experienced in our rural and remote communities. The resilience of rural people is remarkable; however, we understand that daily pressures and additional challenges continue to impact their lives.

Our rural and remote chaplains provide care and support to people across Australia, who, at times, feel socially and geographically isolated. Rural and remote chaplains seek to bring hope and support to people challenged with economic, environmental, emotional and social pressures.

Chaplains are often the only community workers who travel to these remote and hard-to-reach areas either by means of a four-wheel drive vehicle or plane. They come alongside others offering support and can make referrals to other agencies as needed.

Our rural and remote chaplains carry the Christian message to isolated community schools, with the aim to conduct Christian education classes once a term. Some families, who live on isolated stations, may also request classes for their children.
